Yun Wu tea - Zhejiang Clouds Mist Green Tea

Yun Wu tea (cloud mist) is one famous green tea in China.  Yun Wu translates as "cloud and mist". It describes the climate in mountainous areas with high humidity what leads to clouds and mist. Both ideal conditions for high quality tea as it shields the tea leaves from extensive sunlight. Our JK's Yun Wu Tea is from high mountain area in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. Teas grow in unspoiled highlands and are covered in cloud mists. The tea has also been listed as a tribute tea for the emperors and royal family since Song Dynasty (960 - 1279) owing to its four outstanding characteristics: fragrant aroma, pretty color, bright, clear liquor, and mellow taste.

When is the best time to pick Yun Wu tea

Yun Wu tea is picked from the second tea harvesting season in China known as Yu Qian. However, the most precious Yun Wu tea, the Mingqian Tea is picked before the Qing Ming so the shoots harvested are extremely young and tender. The rest is plucked in April after the Pre-Qian Ming, the first harvest season. Although not as famous as the Mao Feng Tribute, it has a delicious taste and is less expensive. The lower cost of Yun Wu tea may be attributed to the longer plucking time attributed to Yun Wu tea (4 weeks) vs. the plucking time for Mao Feng tea (2 weeks). This results to more Yun Wu made available for sale.
